Things happen (pandemics, lies & cheating, war and killing, ethnic cleansing, wildfires, climate change, mental and physical illness, etc.) but these “things” are not God’s will. God does not “cause” such things to happen. Rather God “Weeps” over these distortions and violations of God’s desire, God’s intention... In the midst of “these things, God continues to “call” to nudge, to nurture, to bless and transform through love, these and all things toward their true and possible good purpose.
Persons can
choose. Persons can join together to both resist the negative “un-life” things
in the world , and instead - in faith and hope and love - to listen,
hear and join the grace and call of God toward peace, health, unity, wholeness,
mutual caring, compassion and helpfulness - toward LIFE. There is in
each one of us a Holy Spirit callings us to our true selves and to choose
to unite ourselves with the power of God’s spirit working in the world.
Such a
choice may be hard to see or hear in the midst of a sick and distorted human
culture. But this is the true task of ”Religion” which means “to
bind together” - to enable us to join others in the pursuit of the stream
of benevolent, mysterious power flowing from the sacred Source.
Stop what you are doing and listen to your heart, your soul. There is a voice calling you, calling all of us to share in the Holy task of creating a heaven on earth, of “bringing the Kingdom of God on earth as it is in heaven.” Let go of your despair, your cynicism, your need for protection or your desire for dominance, all of which contribute to darkness and death, and join with others in the sacrificial way of Life, which is eternal.
